The Tribuna was chosen because it remains operational, allowing the name to take immediate effect, while it will also boast the stadium's largest capacity once renovations conclude. Celta's overhaul of Balaídos forms part of a broader infrastructure programme ahead of Spain's co-hosting of the 2030 World Cup alongside Morocco and Portugal. The stadium, which has called the same home since 1928, will see its overall capacity surge from 24,870 to beyond 40,000 supporters once work concludes. The Tribuna specifically will undergo reconstruction to expand from 5,500 to 16,000 seats, with the structure repositioned backward to accommodate the growth. The venue previously hosted matches during Spain's 1982 World Cup hosting, making the upcoming tournament a historic return to the international stage for the club's venerable ground.
