Nottingham Forest and England attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 in legal penalties after his Range Rover was detected running a red light. The 26-year-old was convicted last Tuesday at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court for failing to disclose the identity of the driver at the time of the road traffic offence.
According to court papers, a Nottinghamshire Police camera clocked the footballer's car on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford at 15:17 GMT on 28 January. The vehicle crossed the junction 1.1 seconds after the traffic signals had turned red. In a written statement, a police worker noted: "At the time of the offence, the vehicle was captured failing to comply with a red light signal, the time into the red light was recorded as 1.1 seconds." When Nottinghamshire Police investigated, an alert was issued after finding the vehicle's registration plate differed by a single letter from the number recorded with the DVLA. Staffordshire Police subsequently stopped the Range Rover in April and verified that it belonged to Gibbs-White.
Gibbs-White failed to reply to two separate letters from the police requesting confirmation of who had been behind the wheel during the incident. A court official explained that the midfielder submitted no plea or mitigation, resulting in his sentencing behind closed doors via the fast-track Single Justice Procedure. The magistrate endorsed his driving licence with six penalty points, levied a £660 fine, and directed him to pay £120 in court costs alongside a £264 victim surcharge.
The penalty comes after the playmaker was handed a six-month driving disqualification in May last year, which accompanied nearly £4,000 in fines after he accumulated six speeding violations across three months, including two captured on the same day. Gibbs-White, who completed a transfer to Nottingham Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022, debuted for England in 2024. He has earned 10 caps for his country and was recently named in Thomas Tuchel's squad for the Nations League.
