Bromley manager Andy Woodman has parted ways with the League One club following the mutual termination of his contract. The departure brings an end to a five-year-and-seven-month tenure for Woodman, who still had two years remaining on his agreement at Hayes Lane. His time at the helm stood as the third-longest active managerial reign across the 92 Premier League and EFL clubs, behind only Mikel Arteta of Arsenal and Mansfield's Nigel Clough.
Appointed in 2021 in his first managerial role, Woodman orchestrated the most successful era in Bromley's history. Across 289 matches in charge, he claimed 123 victoriesโrecording a 42.6% win rateโand lifted three trophies while leading the Ravens into the Football League for the first time. Woodman secured an FA Trophy, a National League play-off final triumph, and captured the League Two title this past May, earning him the division's manager of the year award for 2025-26.
However, the club's maiden journey in the third tier has proven testing. Hampered by an extensive injury list and a large squad turnover, Bromley have managed only two wins from their first 10 league matches and have conceded an EFL-high 25 goals. Difficult results have included a 7-2 loss at Hillsborough, a 5-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient, and Tuesday's 4-0 loss against Leicester City. That setback marked their third consecutive league defeat and a fifth straight loss across all competitions, leaving the team 23rd in the table, a single point above bottom-placed Wigan Athletic.
Bromley owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves stated that Woodman had been "fundamental" in guiding the side to new heights, adding: "On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future." As the club considers its next steps, assistant manager Byron Webster will step in to oversee first-team responsibilities on an interim basis, starting with Saturday's home fixture against Peterborough United at Hayes Lane (15:00 BST).
