League Two side Fleetwood Town have been drawn to face either Everton or Newcastle United at Highbury in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. The lowest-ranked team left in the competition secured their place in the last eight by producing a major upset on Tuesday, stunning Premier League champions Arsenal in a penalty shootout.
Reaching this stage represents historic territory for Fleetwood Town, who had never progressed past the third round of the tournament prior to this season. The squad will have to wait to find out their next opponents, however, with Everton hosting Newcastle United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Thursday in the final match of the fourth round.
Elsewhere in the draw, holders Manchester City will play at Etihad Stadium against Bradford City. Bradford are the only other non-Premier League club remaining in the EFL Cup alongside Fleetwood, while Manchester City confirmed their quarter-final place after they needed penalties to get past Brighton in round four.
The remaining two ties in the last eight will be all-Premier League affairs. Liverpool, who also required a penalty shootout to beat Chelsea, are set to host Bournemouth, while Crystal Palace will take on Sunderland at Selhurst Park. The quarter-final fixtures will take place in the week commencing 14 December.
