Celtic missed out on a prime opportunity to establish a commanding six-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership after being held to a 2-2 draw by Dundee United. The league leaders had entered the fixture positioned to significantly strengthen their standing at the summit, but the stalemate prevented them from opening up the intended six-point cushion.
The encounter between Celtic and Dundee United concluded with honours even, as the two sides played out a 2-2 contest to share the points. Despite Celtic's objective to secure all three points and surge clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Dundee United held firm to ensure the match ended all square.
The dropped points carry notable implications for the Scottish Premiership standings. With the chance to move six points clear slipping away in the 2-2 result, Celtic were unable to capitalize on what could have been a pivotal moment to pull away from the chasing pack in the top-flight title race.
Moving forward, Celtic will view the 2-2 outcome against Dundee United as a frustrating missed opening to solidify their commanding position. While the point keeps Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, failing to secure the six-point advantage ensures that the battle at the peak of the table remains finely balanced.
