Newcastle United defender Amar Dedic was stopped by police after being seen carrying a bow and arrows at a beauty spot in Northumberland. The 24-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international was traveling in a car with a friend when authorities intervened after a concerned member of the public raised the alarm. Reports indicate that six police vehicles, including armed officers, were dispatched to the incident, with Dedic and his companion pulled over roughly seven miles from where they were initially seen.

According to Northumbria Police, the force received alerts regarding two individuals carrying a bow and arrows along a track by the reservoir on Military Road in the Harlow Hill area. Officers subsequently stopped a car in the Darras Hall area, searched the vehicle, and seized the equipment. The police, who did not name the player, confirmed that enquiries are ongoing but clarified that the items were understood to be for recreational use and posed no danger to the public. Dedic held no ill intention and fully co-operated with the officers.

While police were speaking with Dedic, 34-year-old Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and 35-year-old former defender Paul Dummett arrived at the scene. The pair were understood to be in the area purely by chance and pulled over to offer assistance. The event took place on Wednesday, coming two days after Dedic featured in Newcastle's 1-0 home defeat against Everton. Newcastle, currently sitting 13th in the Premier League standings with 11 points from nine matches, have not commented on the matter.

Dedic signed for Newcastle from Benfica for a fee in the region of ยฃ30m in August and has made 10 appearances across league and cup competitions, seven of which have come in the Premier League. Newcastle are scheduled to visit Fulham on Saturday at 15:00 GMT in their final match before the November international break. Following club action, Dedic is set to join the Bosnia-Herzegovina squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures away against Sweden on 14 November and at home versus Romania on 17 November.
