Liverpool are weighing up a transfer swoop for Brighton and Netherlands goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. The 24-year-old shot-stopper has emerged as a potential target for the Reds amid growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Brazil international Alisson Becker, whose current contract at Anfield is due to expire next summer when he will be 34.
Goalkeeper is not the only position Liverpool are addressing at the back, as the club are also demonstrating strong interest in Brighton's 19-year-old Croatian centre-back Luka Vuskovic. Liverpool are intensifying their search for an eventual successor to 35-year-old Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk. Meanwhile, fellow Netherlands defender Jeremie Frimpong has been offered to Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal, just 18 months after completing a £29.5m transfer to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen. In addition, German giants Bayern Munich remain in talks with the representatives of 18-year-old Liverpool and England winger Rio Ngumoha following earlier contact, hoping he could become a summer transfer option.
Competition is also brewing in the full-back market, with Liverpool and Chelsea both credited with an interest in Brentford's 21-year-old Senegal left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf. At the same time, Manchester United have tracked 21-year-old Cameroon left-back Mahamadou Nagida, having been impressed by encouraging scouting assessments of the Rennes defender. Elsewhere in midfield, Tottenham's Conor Gallagher is drawing attention from domestic rivals, with Crystal Palace, Everton, and Leeds United monitoring the 26-year-old England international, although Spurs appear unlikely to sanction an exit.
In London, Chelsea may attempt to launch fresh contract discussions with 23-year-old England defender Levi Colwill. Although the defender remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029, the Blues could be prompted into negotiations as Spanish heavyweights Barcelona consider submitting a formal transfer bid for him during the January window.
