Manchester City centre-back Marc Guehi is scheduled to undergo a scan on a hip issue this Sunday, leaving question marks over whether he will be cleared to join the England camp this week. The 26-year-old defender is facing an anxious wait ahead of the national team's upcoming Uefa Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain.
The fitness concern developed during City's defeat away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, where Guehi was substituted at half-time. Following the match, manager Enzo Maresca revealed that the defender had requested to be taken off because of the problem. Although Maresca did not provide specifics on the injury, it is understood that Guehi has been hampered by hip trouble over recent weeks.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel will be eager to see the centre-back passed fit, having made him an essential figure in the squad since taking the helm in January 2025. Guehi, who completed a move from Crystal Palace to Manchester City in January, has been a key starter for his country, featuring in the starting lineup for all but one World Cup match and starting each of England's four Nations League games across September and October.
While Sunday's tests will provide initial clarity, England's medical staff are also expected to evaluate the former Palace captain before making a conclusive determination on his status. The Three Lions are scheduled to welcome Croatia to Wembley on Thursday, 12 November, before travelling to Madrid to challenge World Cup winners Spain on Saturday, 15 November.
