Crystal Palace have successfully outmaneuvered Aston Villa to secure the signing of Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, according to reports.
The 22-year-old, a graduate of Independiente del Valle's celebrated academy, relocated to Belgium in 2022. After an initial period with Club Brugge's reserve side, he has become a regular performer, accumulating 128 appearances across all competitions.
Journalist Tomas Taecke has indicated that Ordonez's next destination is the Premier League, though not with the side many had anticipated. Villa had been heavily linked with the centre-back as part of their summer plans, but those moves have now stalled.
Instead, Ordonez is set to complete a transfer to Crystal Palace for a base fee of โฌ30 million, potentially rising with add-ons. The deal currently awaits a medical for the injured defender.
