Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that three Tottenham players โ Richarlison, Kevin Danso, and Pape Matar Sarr โ have formally requested exits before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
The trio were notably absent when Spurs fell 2-0 to Newcastle United at home on Saturday, though Sarr's absence was partly attributed to a hamstring issue. De Zerbi offered blunt honesty when questioned about the disappearances.
"Richarlison, I don't know. He said too many times he wants to leave," De Zerbi stated. "Danso came to me two days ago and he said he wants to leave. Pape Sarr the same but he suffered a small injury, but he is almost ready to train.}
Despite his frustration, the Tottenham coach stressed his personal regard for the players. "I love these players, and they are great guys. I have very good relationships. But if they want to leave, they have to bring the economic solution to the club, and they can go and we find other players," he explained.
Reports indicate Juventus are weighing a move for Sarr, and De Zerbi made clear all three men will be permitted to chase opportunities elsewhere.
Richarlison arrived at Tottenham from Everton back in 2022, Danso completed a permanent switch from Lens last summer, and Sarr was signed from Metz in 2021.
Adding further pressure on De Zerbi, Tottenham have now lost their first two league matches of the season without registering a goal โ a disappointing start given the club's approximately ยฃ380 million outlay on eight summer acquisitions.
