Coventry City have moved decisively in the transfer market, finalizing a £6 million deal to bring veteran centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford.
The 33-year-old Jamaican international arrives at the CBS Arena after spending the entire summer linked with an exit from the Gtech Community Stadium, where his playing time diminished under former manager Keith Andrews last campaign.
Pinnock first arrived at Brentford in 2019 and quickly became a cornerstone of their defence, amassing 216 appearances and netting 12 goals for the club. His tenure includes a memorable chapter as a key member of Thomas Frank's historic side that earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club's history back in 2021.
He departs west London with fewer than twelve months remaining on his existing contract.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Pinnock said: "I'm really excited to join Coventry City and continue my footballing journey with this great club. After 25 years, the club are back in the Premier League, and I know how much it means to everyone involved. I can't wait to be part of it."
The defender follows fellow Brentford outgoing star Frank Onyeka across the country this window, completing another connection between the two clubs this summer.
Under the guidance of head coach Frank Lampard, Pinnock becomes Coventry's tenth acquisition of the current transfer period, a window in which the club has already invested beyond £100 million in fresh reinforcements.
