Last season's Scottish Cup finalists Dunfermline Athletic have been handed an away tie against Queen of the South in the third round of the competition. Neil Lennon's Championship outfit will make the journey to Palmerston on the final weekend in November as they look to launch another cup run following their memorable efforts in the tournament earlier this year.
Dunfermline reached their first Scottish Cup final in 19 years last season, ultimately finishing as runners-up following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Celtic in May. They now face a trip to Dumfries in a round packed with action across the Scottish tiers. Second-tier pacesetters Partick Thistle are also set to play away from home, travelling to face Elgin City, while Raith Rovers will journey to Troon and Livingston hit the road to meet Clydebank.
Elsewhere across the third-round draw, Inverness Caledonian Thistle will entertain Cove Rangers at home, and an all-Ayrshire encounter will take place as Ayr United take on neighbours Largs Thistle. Further ties from the draw see Cumnock Juniors playing host to Arbroath, Greenock Morton travelling to face Annan Athletic, Queen's Park hosting Spartans, and Stenhousemuir staging a home clash against East Fife.
The competition also serves up notable ties for League 1 rivals at the top of the table. Third-tier leaders Ross County are set to welcome fellow Highlands club Brora Rangers, while Hamilton Academical, who sit just behind County on goal difference, travel to face Montrose. Other confirmed fixtures include Bo'ness United versus Brechin City, Peterhead against Edinburgh City, and Stranraer hosting Clachnacuddin, alongside several matchups pending second-round outcomes for clubs including Dumbarton, East Kilbride, Airdrieonians, Renfrew, and Alloa Athletic.
