Harry Wilson has returned to the Wales squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against Norway and Portugal, while 20-year-old goalkeeper Joe Duncan has been handed his first senior international call-up. Leeds United attacking midfielder Wilson, who has earned 69 caps and remained one of his country's most influential figures in recent years, is back in the fold after injuries prevented him from featuring for Wales since March.
Duncan stands as the solitary new addition to the squad, taking the place of Everton back-up Tom King. The young shot-stopper, who is currently on loan at National League outfit Southend United from Championship side Bristol City, qualifies for Wales through his maternal grandfather from Cardiff. Born in Bristol, Duncan has already made two appearances for the Wales Under-21 side and joins goalkeepers Karl Darlow and Danny Ward in the senior group.
Manager Craig Bellamy has also included Wilson's Leeds team-mate Joe Rodon, with the central defender returning to international duty despite not having played since suffering a hamstring injury in August. Cardiff City playmaker Rubin Colwill has also been recalled to the squad. However, fellow midfielder Jordan James misses out after sustaining an injury while in action for Wolves against Cardiff last Saturday.
Wales are battling to retain their status in the top tier of the Nations League as they travel to face Norway at Oslo's Ullevaal Stadion on Saturday, 14 November, before wrapping up their campaign at home to Portugal on Tuesday, 17 November. Bellamy's side currently occupy third place in Group A4, having registered one victory from four matchesโa home triumph in Cardiff last month against World Cup quarter-finalists Norway. Wales can finish anywhere between second and fourth; taking a top-two position would earn them a place in the Nations League quarter-finals in March 2027, a third-place finish requires a March relegation play-off against a League B opponent, while ending up bottom would lead to direct relegation or a play-off depending on how they rank against other League A teams.
