A Brazilian youth fixture has written itself into the history books for all the wrong reasons after an unprecedented 51 red cards were issued during an under-20s encounter. The chaotic Minas Gerais Under-20 Championship semi-final first leg between Uberlandia and Mamore descended into turmoil, resulting in 43 players and eight members of coaching staff receiving their marching orders. This astonishing total shattered the prior world record of 36 dismissals, which occurred during a 2011 fifth-tier fixture in Argentina between Club Atletico Claypole and Victoriano Arenas.
According to the referee's match report, the pandemonium erupted during the second half shortly after Mamore established a 3-1 lead. While celebrating the goal, Mamore's Davi taunted the opposition bench, which provoked Uberlandia goalkeeping coach Paulo Sergio Dias Dos Santos into running onto the field to confront him. The confrontation rapidly escalated into a full-scale brawl, triggering widespread dismissals across both squads in addition to three players who had already been sent off earlier in the game.
Following the outbreak of violence, referee Fernando Patrick Drosghic Modesto halted the fixture for approximately 40 minutes before deciding to abandon the match entirely. Brazilian media outlet O Tempo revealed that the military police were called to the scene amid extensive destruction at the Parque do Sabia Stadium. A subsequent police report documented widespread damage, highlighting 14 broken doors, broken windows, damaged shower facilities, as well as destroyed benches, tables, and chairs.
The severe fallout has directly decided the outcome of the semi-final tie, with Uberlandia confirming that they have conceded the upcoming second leg. Because the mass red cards left Mamore with only seven available players, Uberlandia described their decision to forfeit as a "gesture of fair play." As a result, Mamore progress directly into the final, while Uberlandia shift their focus to the third-place match.
