Harry Kane has pledged his long-term future to Bayern Munich by signing a new contract extension running through to 2029. The 33-year-old England captain was approaching the final 12 months of the four-year agreement he signed after completing an £86m transfer from Tottenham in 2023. His fresh terms ensure he will remain in Germany until shortly before his 36th birthday, keeping him at the club through Euro 2028 and to within a year of the 2030 World Cup.
The announcement follows a sensational period for the Leytonstone-born striker, who was crowned the world's best male player at the Ballon d'Or ceremony last month—becoming the first Bundesliga player to collect the honor since 1996. Kane netted 73 goals in 65 appearances across club and country during 2025-26, including a club-record 61 goals in 51 fixtures as Bayern secured a Bundesliga and cup double. In total, he has registered 102 goals in 102 Bundesliga appearances, collecting two league titles, three consecutive Golden Boot awards, and the 2024-25 Bundesliga player of the season trophy.
Expressing his delight with the agreement, Kane credited the environment in Munich and head coach Vincent Kompany. "I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich," Kane said. "We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay." Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund shared that enthusiasm, adding: "We're absolutely delighted, because with Harry Kane we have the Ballon d'Or winner on the pitch - a team player, a leader, the best all-round striker in the world. We all benefit from his qualities as a player and as a person, day in, day out."
Having originally moved abroad to "prove myself at the highest level" without a prior major trophy to his name, Kane has now collected five honors with Bayern, adding the 2025 and 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercups to his domestic double and 2024-25 league title. He has already scored 12 goals this season, taking his Bayern record to 156 strikes in 161 matches. For England, the men's record scorer equalled Peter Shilton's 125-cap tally in September and became his nation's all-time leading World Cup scorer with 14 goals in 18 games after netting six this summer. While his extended stay in Germany reduces the likelihood of erasing Alan Shearer's 260-goal Premier League benchmark—sitting 47 short—Kane remains set on accumulating silverware, stating: "I'm now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club."
