Manchester United have set their sights on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as Michael Carrick's squad looks to further bolster its engine room this summer, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have already been busy reshaping their midfield, completing deals for Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Yet their spending spree in the middle of the park appears far from finished.
Camavinga, 23, has seen his standing at the Bernabรฉu slip this season, managing just 16 starts from 29 LaLiga appearances as injury problems disrupted his campaign.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that the Frenchman's name has come up in internal discussions at Old Trafford. "Another option mentioned internally in the meetings has been Eduardo Camavinga," Romano explained. He added that United are weighing up several candidates, with Manu Konรฉ also in the frame โ the club seeking a defensive midfielder who brings intensity, energy, and physicality.
However, Romano cautioned that any deal would be far from straightforward. "Camavinga doesn't want to leave Real Madrid this summer. Camavinga wants to stay, Camavinga wants to be an important part of Real Madrid project next season," he said. "The Camavinga story could only be possible if the player decides to go. So this is why the deal for Camavinga is complicated."
United's pursuit highlights the scale of ambition under Carrick, though prising Camavinga away from the Spanish capital remains a significant challenge while the player's preference is to remain at Real Madrid.
