Aston Villa have opened advanced discussions with manager Unai Emery over a new contract at the club. The negotiations regarding fresh terms for the manager come following recent speculation linking him with the managerial position at Manchester United.
Significant developments are also taking shape at Liverpool, where 19-year-old English midfielder Trey Nyoni is anticipated to sign a new contract. The teenager is set to stay after Liverpool rejected a £30m approach from Nottingham Forest for him during the summer transfer window. Furthermore, 23-year-old English midfielder Harvey Elliott could join Leeds United on a permanent transfer this January, as Valencia prepare to terminate his loan spell. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, 34, is also facing an uncertain future, with the Brazilian attracting interest from Flamengo as his contract at Anfield expires in June.
Several top-flight sides are actively searching the market for reinforcements. Everton are eyeing 21-year-old Brazilian forward Vitor Roque from Palmeiras, who is expected to cost approximately £42m. Meanwhile, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea are all scouting Galatasaray's 21-year-old Russian midfielder Aleksey Batrakov. Manchester United also have Como's 21-year-old Spanish defender Jacobo Ramon on their radar, though they could battle Chelsea for his signature. In European transfer updates, Barcelona are unlikely to complete a move for Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco, 28, because the Italian side activated a one-year extension clause in his deal.
Managerial storylines continue to circulate, with former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez targeting a return to management in the Premier League. Elsewhere in the English top flight, Newcastle United's players are reportedly left "confused" by what manager Matthias Jaissle wants from them.
